Cardboard Tents: EnvironMENTAL and BiodeGREATable

Having spent all week trying to finish projects, with deadlines seaming to be never ending, it was obvious that I would find myself procrastinating. However for once it wasn’t a completely meaningless task.

Found on the Dailymail website was an article about a group of recently graduated Dutch college students who managed to create a single use cardboard tent (that is even waterproof). Called Kartent, the tent offers a cheaper and single use alterative to the average tent. This was some serious nostalgia for me, seeing as we had previously attempted to make cardboard festival seating, something I have even been testing out for myself this year with Jamie “Lil Soup” Russell on my shoulders.

The article itself was fairly alright but the idea of the tents was something that got me excited, especially seeing as it was something we had dabbled in before. The designs are triangular or pentagonal in shape and are capable of withstanding rainfall for a short period of time, roughly a weekend.

The serious novelty aspect, along with the obvious environmental features, makes it something that could be on the up. The tent may even make an appearance at Glastonbury somewhere.

Thought it was an interesting product, and something that sparked excitement in me, especially seeing how simple yet effective it is as a product.
