Today in our CDC class we ventured into film making, something few of us had even thought about doing, let alone practiced. So off we went, with Hollywood sized budget, and a Hollywood sized diva called Kevin "Finch" Prior to shoot what is now known as "Finch's Day Off"

Something that was highlighted as important was to map out our Shotlist, what the story contained, who it contained, where it happened and what else we needed. This tied into the class from two weeks ago with David O'Donoghue. The main idea was to get the idea of what our story was about before we hit the campus with the camera (and many groupies).
The story was simple. Capture our multi Oscar award winning actor Kevin, Finch to his friends, on his way to the shop to show a real life scenario. Along the way we see how terrible things can happen, even if you're having a great day. Having acquiring a great cast, stunt double of Gason Jubbins and an on form director of Doojan Kelly, it was time to head out to the set.

Starting at the Foundation Building, we went shot by shot through our story. With stunts, tears, blood and ice cream, the filming had just about everything needed for a triumph at box office. Having been blessed with a glorious February afternoon, we were able to comfortably get all the necessary shots and film for our film.

So following our great day on set, we headed to the editing room. Although plagued with multiple technical problems, faults and the odd distraction, we were blessed by the one take magesty of Finch throughout filming. The editing was necessary to add in the music, something that helped set the tone and emotion, and scene transfers to add the Hollywood Blockbuster effect.
The editing room and graphics team worked round the clock to help create a good credit reel and an emotional memoriam to our fallen comrade and stunt double. The scene was set for the long awaited premiere.

So in the VIP area of the Crit Room, we screened our masterpiece to an audience of eagerly awaiting designers. Nerves were on edge, and hair was on end. However it went swimmingly and after standing ovation and heartfelt speeches, we knew we had done our job.
This week's class was by far my favourite. However humourous and fun filled it was, it was very educational. Learning about what made an intriguing video was something that, along with trying it out ourselves, was really enjoyable. Having never dabbled in it previously made it even more enjoyable, especially with having something to show for it following the work. Following this week's class, I personally cannot wait for the Sizzle Reel.
So, for your own viewing pleasure, here is the World Premiere of "Finch's Day Off".
